Start to Finish Socks
This series of classes will introduce you to the fun of knitting socks–
portable, comfortable, and they make great gifts!
We will start knitting our socks by learning the Judy’s Magic Cast-On to form the toe of the sock in our first class. The second class will show you the Fish Lips Kiss
heel, and the third class will finish the first sock and cast on the toe for
the second sock.
Two weeks between each class will give you plenty of time to finish your
“homework” so that you are ready for the next sock section.
Skills needed: must know how to knit, purl, decrease with SSK and
K2tog, be comfortable knitting in the round and knitting from
instructions.
Materials needed:
Yarn- 400 yards minimum of fingering weight yarn. Yarn should be plied
(not a singles yarn) and have nylon, silk, or bamboo, for strength, in
addition to wool content. Yarn must be wound and ready to use prior to
class.
Needles- size 2.25 mm or 2.50mm (usually US 1 or 1.5 except in Addi
needles) is the size most commonly used
You may choose to use double pointed needles, 2 circulars (16-24
inches long each), or a 32 inch circular needle for magic loop. (If you
would like to try magic loop, it is easily learned when starting your
project in class.)
Pattern- Fish Lips Kiss Heel by Sox Therapist (available for purchase on
Ravelry for $2.49, we can assist with this before class. Come in early)
You do not need to print pattern prior to first class.
